Attambelos III was king of Characene, a kingdom located in southern Mesopotamia at the mouth of the Tigris and Euphrates, in the 1st century BC. A vassal of the Parthians, he ruled over a strategic territory controlling the trade routes between Mesopotamia and the Persian Gulf.
