The obverse features a laureate bust of Hadrian facing left, while the reverse depicts a galley sailing to the right—a symbol of imperial voyages and Rome’s maritime power. This type may reference one of Hadrian’s many travels across the Empire, particularly his visits to Africa or Asia Minor.
