The Tyre mint was one of the most active in the Levant under the early Ptolemies, playing a strategic role in controlling Phoenician trade routes. Under Ptolemy II, these issues reflect both the naval power of the Lagid dynasty and the expansion of its influence across the eastern Mediterranean.
