Description
Timoleon was a Corinthian general and statesman of the 4th century BC, sent to Sicily to restore order. He expelled the tyrant Dionysius the Younger and defeated the Carthaginian forces, bringing peace to the island. His government in Syracuse marked a period of political reforms and prosperity. After retiring from public life, he remained admired as a model of virtue and civic freedom.
