Description
French feudal coin struck under Rudolph III, King of Burgundy (993–1032), silver denier minted at Lyon.
Upon his death without a direct heir in 1032, Rudolf III bequeathed his kingdom to Emperor Conrad II, leading to the definitive integration of Burgundy into the Holy Roman Empire. He thus occupies an important place in medieval history, as the last independent ruler of Burgundy and a transitional figure between the medieval kingdoms and the imperial order.
