Restrike of the octagonal Banque de France token. The original issue dates from Year VIII (1799–1800) and was engraved by Rambert Dumarest. This later striking faithfully reproduces the distinctive octagonal format of the initial emission, which marked the early history of the institution shortly after its foundation.
