The denier of Metz, struck under Thierry II (Bishop of Metz from 1006 to 1047) and Henry II, King of Germany (later Holy Roman Emperor from 1014 to 1024), is a medieval coin that reflects the economic and political role of Metz within the Holy Roman Empire.

Henry II, King of Germany and future Holy Roman Emperor, maintained a close alliance with Bishop Thierry II of Metz. He strengthened the authority of the bishopric by granting it privileges. Metz was a key city in the Holy Roman Empire, with significant religious and economic influence.
