Description
Follis of Licinius II Caesar, coin struck at Cyzicus with mintmark SMK and from the first officina (A). Cuirassed and helmeted bust holding a spear, facing right on the obverse.
It has been suggested that the curious numerical formula in the reverse field indicates a revaluation of the follis, from 25 to 12.5 denarii (cf. Carson, Coins of the Roman Empire, p. 167).
