Ermengarde, born in 1142, was a prominent figure of the southern French nobility in the 12th century. Heiress to vast domains, she played an important political role through her marital alliances and regional influence. She was notably Countess of Narbonne, contributing to the balance of power between Toulouse, Aragon, and the local lords. Her authority and longevity left a lasting mark on the history of Languedoc. She died in 1194, remembered as a woman of power in a world dominated by men
