Madame de Pompadour (1721–1764), born Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson, was the official mistress of King Louis XV and an influential figure at the French court. She played a key role in the arts and politics, supporting Enlightenment thinkers such as Voltaire. Her refined taste left a lasting mark on 18th-century aesthetics, especially in the Rococo style.
