Grand-Bassam is a historic town in Côte d’Ivoire, located on the coast, which was the country’s first colonial capital at the end of the 19th century. It played a central role in French administration and maritime trade in West Africa. Its colonial architecture, historic districts, and former port bear witness to this period. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2012, Grand-Bassam remains a symbol of the colonial past and of the region’s economic exchanges.
