The 1888 half crown, issued under the reign of Queen Victoria (Jubilee Head type), commemorates her Golden Jubilee (50 years on the throne). It was struck at the Royal Mint in London in sterling silver (92.5%) with a mintage of approximately 1,428,787 pieces. The obverse features a veiled and crowned portrait of Victoria by Joseph Edgar Boehm, while the reverse displays the royal arms within the Garter belt, designed by Leonard Charles Wyon.
