Sauromates I was king of the Cimmerian Bosporus from AD 93 to 123, a member of the late Spartocid dynasty. His reign marked a period of stability under Roman influence, with which he maintained close relations. He conducted several campaigns against nomadic tribes threatening the kingdom’s borders. His economy was strengthened by maritime trade in the Black Sea, notably in grain and wine.
