These deniers, formerly attributed to Marseille, are believed to originate from an unidentified mint located along the Rhône Valley. Stylized head facing left with a small cross in front on the obverse, and an anchored cross on the reverse, flanked by a pellet in the first and third quadrants, a “V” in the third, and a “II” in the fourth.

Examples were found in the Combrières hoard in Creuse (Numismatic Chronicle 180, nos. 14–20), as well as in the Cimiez hoard (Alpes-Maritimes) discovered around 1851. Chabouillet: Cimiez find, Morel-Fatio collection, nos. 111 to 118.
