French feudal coins for the Navarre struck by Ferdinand the Catholic who was king of Aragon. Struck between 1512-1515
Ferdinand the Catholic (1452–1516) was King of Aragon and, through his marriage to Isabella of Castile, co-sovereign of a unified Spain. Together, they completed the Reconquista in 1492 by retaking Granada. That same year, they supported Christopher Columbus’s voyage, paving the way for Spanish colonial expansion. Ferdinand strengthened royal authority and centralized the administration. After Isabella’s death, he continued to rule, consolidating monarchical power. In 1512, he annexed most of the Kingdom of Navarre to Castile, further extending his influence in the north.
