Description
The Galerie Métallique des Grands Hommes Français is a prestigious 19th-century medal collection, created to honor the memory of iconic figures in French history.
Jean-François de La Harpe (1739–1803) was a French writer, literary critic, and playwright, initially aligned with Enlightenment philosophers. Elected to the Académie Française in 1776, he gained fame for his literature lectures at the Athénée of Paris. Toward the end of his life, he adopted strong royalist and religious views, breaking away from his earlier convictions.
