This octagonal silver token, issued during the period of the French Consulate (1799–1804), was likely intended for use in a commercial or administrative setting. It bears the inscription “Frochot Préfet du D[épartement] de la Seine”, referring to Claude Ambroise Frochot, the Prefect of the Department of the Seine appointed by Napoleon Bonaparte.
